Hey everyone! I bet you thought CW was cancelled (As I always
say whenever someone msg's me about it) but as you can see by
reading this that the charts aren't actually cancelled. I'd
like to apologize for the tardiness.

We have a new layout & logo designed by Scour (Thanks!) so
please feel free to send me a message voicing your opinion
regarding the new look. January has always been a slow month
for releases but there were a few nice majors that managed
          to get released.

Zigor has graciously agreed to do the comments for this month's
chart, if you wanna read more about him, please refer back to
issue 2 released way back in August 2001! Thanks Zigor!

Enough jibber jabber, let the charts BEGIN!

                                                                - ennay

What can we say? We're late. Very late. Why you might ask? Well,
you can thank Scour for the delays, since he did a redesigned
layout of the charts. Ok, ok. I'm lying. Scour had it done way
in advance. You can thank the staff for the delays, mainly due
to the difficulty in coordinating an exchange of information.

We've both been busy as hell, so sometimes responsibilities
suffer. Yes, this even includes something as spectacular as the
Console World. We're both sorry that its a few *cough* weeks late,
but hopefully the new layout and logo will make up for our errors.

          See you in a month!

-1 Point - DUPE: Released a game, but only after another group already beat
              you? -1 point then.

DUPE TRAINER: A Late Trainer with the same or less options.

BROKEN: If you release a game/trainer/crack that doesn't work,
              -1 time!

+0 Points - BETA: Beta releases are cool to check out, but they are not
the real deal. No points are given or taken for these.

TERRITORY DUPE: If a game is released in Europe first and
contains English, then a following USA release is considered
a territory dupe. If a game is released in the USA first,
and it releases later in Europe with no additional languages,
it is also considered a territory dupe. Games that have
additional game features/levels/etc. added are void from
territory dupe rules. Only Roms that contain differences
when file compared fit into the territory dupe category,
if a Rom is the exact same in 2 territories, it fits into
the -1 dupe category. Territory dupes receive 0 points.

FIX: A non-protection related fix for a released game gets 0
              points.

+1 Point - TRAINER: Any selectable trainer including a menu receives
              1 point.

MULTI: A European Multi Language release of a previously
              available US title.

              FOREIGN: A German/French/Spanish/Etc. release of a
              previously available English title.

TOOL: A tool for the PC that is useful for Gameboy
              Advance purposes gets 1 point.

EEPROM FIX: A fix for games containing EEPROM saves, to
allow the game to run without EEPROM saving on the
current GBA copiers. These get 1 point for now, they
will get 0 once flash-carts featuring EEPROM saving
              become more mainstream.

+2 Points - AVERAGE JAPANESE: An average Japanese game. Most RPGS,
Mahjong titles, Slot games, Sims, Adventures, etc. will be
put into this category. These receive 2 points.

FOREIGN WORLD FIRST: If a German/French/Spanish/Etc. game
is out before the English version, it gets 2 points.

CRACK: A crack for a protected/non-working game gets you 2
              points.

+3 Points - ENGLISH WORLD FIRST: The first release of a game in English.
This is generally the first release of the game available,
either in Europe or the USA. These receive 3 points.

QUALITY JAPANESE: A quality Japanese title that is either
highly awaited or playable will receive 3 points. Generally
games from major companies due out for release later
in English will fit into this category. Most action games,
fighting games, etc. will also fall under this category.

TRANSLATION: Translating a non-English game to English =
3 points. The points reflect the major amount of work this
              requires!

+4 Points - MAJOR: Usually the best/most-anticipated game of the month.

ennay: 2 dupes and 2 games that I've never tried, so I can't say much.
Seems like Cezar will always be around to bring us the Japanese
          titles though.

loaded: Random Japanese and country dupe titles bring Cezar into the
          top five on the charts.

Zigor: With more releases than any other group this month, Cezar
serve up the usual mix of country dupes and jap weirdness.

ennay: Guilty Gear X is a nice looking 2D fighter for the GBA and since
this month has been really slow, the game really stands out
compared to the rest of the releases this month.

loaded: Even with the lack of titles, Eurasia had a decent month with
a nice pre-release of Dark Arena, followed by two nice Japanese
titles, one of which landed the Game of the Month. Dark Arena
seemed a bit more playable than Doom, if 3D style FPS are your
thing. Guilty Gear X looks gorgeous on the handheld, and is a
decent port of the DC game.

Now for my shameless plug: check out my intro on the 3 titles,
and give regards to war/trsi for the nice graphics.

Zigor: January was a pretty slow month and there wasn't much
to go around but Eurasia did pretty well and managed to
put out one of the anticipated releases which was
Guilty Gear X, fans of the series were not let down
and it certainly deserves to be GOTM.

ennay: It's a sports game month for Mode7, it's territory dupe for ESPN
Snowboarding 2K2, so 0 points there.

loaded: Mode 7 had a strong month with 3 winter sports titles.
Unfortunately, the snowboarding title was identical to the Eurasia
release last month. Winter Sports is an English rendition of the
Hyper Sports title Eurasia released. It adds the ESPN label along
with a few English texts. Mode 7 has already had a good start in
February, by the time you're reading this!

Zigor: Unfortunatley ESPN Snowboarding 2K2 was a country dupe so no points
there, Still, A respectable 6 points takes Mode7 to number 2 position
         this month.

more is to come in the nfo, so we will see if that happens!?

ennay: Although I know some people will think Tekken deserved to be the
Game of the Month, I felt that the Japanese release was quite
playable and by the time the 100% english version came out, the
release's shock value isn't as great. Please don't hate me guys!

loaded: A nice trainer for the game of the month with plenty of options
and Tekken Advance, which added a few English texts to the
previously released version. A nice showing for Venom.

Zigor: Nice releases, although the Japanese version of Tekken
was playable enough, I guess there was enough differences
to give this one a +3.

My comments for the month reflects the number of releases out there. If
there aren't too many games, then there just isn't enough things for me
to talk about (like any of you care?) Once again, I apologize for the
late charts, and please don't hate me!

A standard January for the handheld. Not too many releases; although
some nice titles to tide us over for the things to come. I may even
replay Mario Advance 2 (which Mode7 has released) because I love
Mario World that much. Sorry again for the late charts.

  Congrats to the winners :)
Kind of a slow month but a traditional slump which is expected
this time of year. Looking forward to March when there should be
a bounty of handheld goodies to behold, and February doesn't look too
bad either with the likes of Mario Adv 2 USA.

  - PocketNes / GBA : I've been playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Battletoads
and Ice Hockey on this great NES emulator for the GBA.
and it's even better with the sound working!

  - Greetings to : Everyone who has msg'd me about Console World with positive
and negative comments regarding our charts. I hope to see
                   you in the next.

  Loaded:

  - NBA Courtside / GC : I love it! Better than NBA Jam and the most fun
I've had with a basketball game in a LONG time!

  - Super Mario Advance 2 / GBA : How could I forget this title that I
have enjoyed for the past ten years. Its
great to have an excuse to play it again.

  - Beverly Hills Cop / DVD : Its not a game, but damn, I love this movie!
It was recently released on DVD, so be sure
                              to check it out. :)

  - Greetings to : Fellow Eurasians, ennay, and every other chump that
                   might greet me. :)

  Guest: Currently playing

  - Maximo / PS2 : Although i still prefer the classic 2d versions more,
I'm determined to play through this one.

  - Sonic Adv / GBA : Frantic mayhem with the blue hedgehog, I love it!

Greetings go out to my fellow Eurasians and everyone else who I know.
